There are only a handful of places in the world where hairy-nosed otters still exist, and none of them are accessible to tourists.

In Captivity

The one and only hairy-nosed otter in captivity anywhere in the world is Dara, at Phnom Tamau Wildlife Rescue Centre in Cambodia.

Captive Care

There is no information availabe about captive care, as this species has very rarely ever been in captivity. Phnom Tamau are treating their specimen in the same way as their smooth-coated otters, and this seems to be working.
